Tuition Feedback and Testimonials.

'Sara and I have been to 2 of your courses and found them very enjoyable and instructive. Indeed just recently I was looking at your web site with the intention of booking another (bowl turning).

Your courses were well structured there was lots of learning by doing and good 1 to 1 time allowing individual tuition. The settings in which we worked, were lovely, the tea and cake delicious and very welcome. As complete novices to craft and practical skills we still managed to make things which years later still give enjoyment. A rattle, stool, even the mallets. A lot of work had obviously gone into preparing for the course making sure there were plenty of sharpened tools, pole lathes etc so there was no waiting to move onto the next stage and everyone could go at there own pace.

We would definitely come back for another.'

'Scott has delivered a variety of greenwood craft workshops at our Tuesday Club over the last year. This has been a fantastic experience for us. Scott is a very competent, kind and fun tutor who manages to engage people of all ages and with a wide range of abilities and experience. Our group includes all family members and over half the children and young people in our group have additional learning needs. Scott’s teaching methods enable everyone who wants to have a go to produce something beautiful that they can be proud of. This fits perfectly with our aims of encouraging new experiences and raising confidence through achievement. Scott has also been very supportive and encouraging towards our volunteers of all ages who have learnt a great deal while assisting with the workshops.

Scott has always been punctual and reliable and obviously puts a lot of time and thought into planning his sessions. Through our conversations, we also know that Scott has a genuine interest in education, young people and in developing innovative approaches to helping everyone reach their potential, as well as passing on traditional skills. We hope to work with Scott at every opportunity in the future.'

'Forest School Wales contracted Scott to deliver our Woodcraft Skills Training 2009. This comprises five two-day training events at different venues throughout Wales. The client groups are Forest School leaders and assistants, and those involved in other forms of outdoor education and play, with all ages from 4 – 19 + years.

His application showed an impressive understanding of a complex project, and he listened carefully to our requirements and discussed their application intelligently. As a trainer he has been accommodating and flexible with trainees who have a wide range of ability and understanding of woodcraft.

He is himself very skilled with a broad repertoire of application, and he understands and loves wood and metal. He conveys this with a clear, calm manner. His people skills are excellent. Feedback from our clients reveals that he is never condescending and that he imparts knowledge “like a friend”. They are made to feel “relaxed, capable and confident”. He manages to challenge the most confident and support the less able.

His past experience working directly with young people with a wide range of ability and complex needs has informed his training and enables him to empathise with FSW trainees’ experiences and support them in developing their ideas and  teaching skills.

I have found him absolutely honest and trustworthy with deep integrity. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.'
